Apparently, Wiz Khalifa And Amber Rose Don’t Know Marijuana Is Illegal

shutterstock_117709147Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose are going to be parents soon. I think they need a lesson in “how to avoid a visit from Child Protective Services when you are a celebrity.” Boasting about marijuana use and how fine it is for a kid to be raised around it is definitely not a part of the lesson plan.

From the Daily Mail:

When E! News asked Khalifa if he was planning to stop smoking, he said: ‘I think it’s all about how you’re raised with it.’

‘Of course, I’m not going to be smoking right there over the baby, because smoke in general and being high is not good for a kid. None of that. But definitely he’s going to know what it is – and he’ll know the difference between being a child and not being able to use it and being an adult and knowing how to use it.’

Rose concurred: ‘It’s just like alcohol, basically. That’s how I feel about it, you know. When you’re a kid, you know that you’re not supposed to drink alcohol, that it’s for adults and that’s it.’

Well, yeah, except that recreational marijuana use is illegal in every state except Colorado, and having it in your home presents many legal issues when you are a parent. Duh.

You would think Khalifa would have already learned his lesson. In 2010, the rapper boasted in an interview that he spent $10,000 on marijuana every 30 days. A couple months later, his tour bus was raided and he was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor and two felony drug charges.

I’m entirely for the legalization of marijuana. But until that time comes, I’m certainly not going to act like there are no legal repercussions for purchasing it or having it in the home – especially since I have children. Don’t celebrities have handlers? PR people and lawyers who can advise them to stop talking about this stuff?

Rose and Khalifa, it’s great that you’re such open-minded parents and you intend to foster an honest dialogue about this stuff with your children. But until the laws change, maybe you should stop bragging about it.
