KFC And Doc Still Promise To Help Pitbull Victim, Despite Confirmed Hoax

Well, the verdict is well and truly in, and the incident that was supposed to have taken place at KFC-the one where Victoria Whilcher was asked to leave because her facial scars were “disturbing” other customers-is total bullshit.

I think after the last update we all kind of saw this coming, but I’ll admit that a little part of me was secretly hoping that it’s impossible for anyone to be so big of a douche that they would use their three-year old as a pawn in a scam to get money. But alas, people are that big of a douche and douchier still, so yeah, of course it was a hoax.

But instead of focusing on this little girl’s family, who appear to have doo doo where their souls should be, let’s take a moment to recognize the people involved in this incident who weren’t total shitstains:

KFC: Hey did you know that there’s a plaque hanging up in the Children’s hospital where Victoria was treated before her fictional run in with imaginary walking moneybags? That’s because the company donated a buttload of money to it. But vague corporate charity is one thing, while KFC’s decision to not rescind the money they promised to one family is another. In the aftermath of this mess, KFC released this statement:

”Like the rest of America, the KFC family has been moved by the story of Victoria’s injuries and recovery. After the alleged incident was reported to us, two investigations took place, including one by an independent investigator. Neither revealed any evidence that the incident occurred and we consider the investigation closed. We are honoring our commitment to make a $30,000 donation to assist with Victoria’s medical bills. We hope everyone keeps Victoria in their thoughts and prayers. She will certainly be in ours.”

GoFundMe: Rather than turning a blind eye to this whole debacle, shouting “TOS, sorry suckers!” and taking the usual percentage, GoFundMe has decided to pull the funding page and give people a refund, if they request it. The statement GoFundMe released yesterday said:

“In lieu of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ‘Victoria’s Victories’ online fundraising effort, GoFundMe has temporarily suspended the campaign until the full truth is made clear…”

The company also expressed their concern for Victoria, saying that they wished her the best while she recovered.

Finally, there’s Dr. Frank Stile, who, rather than recoiling in disgust at the fact that he now has to continue to look at these lying liars dumb faces when he works on Victoria’s reconstruction, who posted the following on his Facebook page:

Thank you for the continued interest in Victoria’s progress. Please be advised that Dr. Stile remains committed to helping Victoria. Our focus is on this child’s well-being and her future care.

The important facts of this situation remain:
1. An innocent child was viciously attacked by dogs

2. She has serious disfiguring and life changing injuries
3. Dr. Stile and his foundation have the ability to help this little girl
4. We are making final arrangements for her to travel to Dr. Peters in Naples, Florida to get her new eye.

We are very excited to be a part of the process of helping Victoria. Our commitment to this child, and children like her remains strong. We look forward to sharing information about Victoria’s progress as it becomes available.

Every single person involved here that isn’t somehow related to Victoria expresses the desire to do something her family couldn’t be arsed to do: put her needs first.

Her grandfather wasn’t putting her needs first when he left her alone in a trailer with 10 pitbulls (and no, I’m not making a statement about pitbulls, I wouldn’t leave a kid alone with 10 miniature schnauzers, either). And the rest of her family wasn’t thinking of her needs when they decided to pimp her out for some sympathy cash.

Whether or not the money would have gone to help her is practically insignificant in the face of the fact that, like most idiots, they got caught doing something bad. Now she won’t get a cent of that and her face and name will forever be associated with a roving pack of lying douchecanoes who didn’t mind using both to garner sympathy and  financial benefits.
