Texas Mom Welcomes Two Sets Of Identical Twin Boys On Same Day Without Even A Hint Of Fertility Drugs
TODAY reports that the Texas mommy experienced about a “one-in-70-million” chance of multiple multiples when she gave birth to two sets of identical twin boys on February 14th, 2013. No fertility drugs were used. According to a press release, the four brothers were delivered at 31 weeks via c-section:
“We planned the pregnancy – I guess we just succeeded a little too much!” said Tressa Montalvo, quoted in the release.
All can be traced back to one very exciting sonogram visit:
When Montalvo was 10 weeks pregnant, her physician told her she was having twins, and on a subsequent visit, the doctor detected a third heartbeat. The Montalvos were later informed they were having four babies – not quadruplets but two sets of twins.
One set of twins reportedly shared one placenta while the two other twins shared an additional placenta. (Double the placenta for any placenta consuming advocates out there. You could make a whole additional placenta feast or a placenta souffle!) All four brothers are in the three-ish pound range, named Ace, Blaine, Cash, and Dylan. And that A-B-C-D theme you just noticed is intentional, Tressa says.
But, despite the couple’s double twins announcement, they maintain that they’re still going to be trying for that coveted girl baby. Double triplets anyone?
