Dolly Parton Loves This Video of a Toddler Singing ‘Jolene’ More Than Anybody

Fact: ‘Jolene’ is the best song ever written. Even two-year-old Sophia Kingsley of Lansing, Michigan, knows it, and she’s singing along to the best of her little ability.

Sophia’s mother, Brooke Kingsley, posted the video to Facebook, and the combination of the world’s greatest song and a cute toddler singing Jolene was too much for the Internet to deal with. The video of Sophia gleefully belting out “Jolene” to herself has been viewed more than 10 million times, and now she’s gotten the greatest compliment of all: Dolly Parton loves her. I’ve never been so jealous of a 2-year-old.

“It warms my heart to see how music reaches even the littlest country music fans! Maybe we’ll see this little one on the Grand Ole Opry stage some day!” Parton wrote on Facebook, sharing the video with her nearly four million Facebook followers.

Sophia is actually really good for a two-year-old! She pronounces “Jolene” as “Dolene,” but she still sounds better than most of the people I’ve heard cover this song at karaoke. (Full disclosure: Most of those people are me.)

Dolly Parton just seems like the most wonderful person. Her Dollywood amusement park is so committed to accessibility for everyone that it pioneered a “calming room” initiative for visitors with autism and sensory disorders to go and relax and decompress when the stimulation of an amusement park gets to be too much for them. She’s committed to expanding literacy by giving free books to children. And she’s a wildly prolific songwriter and successful businesswoman. Dolly Parton gets more done in a day than 20 other people, and that includes inspiring a whole generation of tiny toddlers to grow up with her as a role model.
