Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club Reboot Will Star Alicia Silverstone

The girls are back in town, and we’re psyched they’re being joined by our favorite ‘Clueless’ Mom–Alicia Silverstone. Yes, it’s true. The iconic Baby-Sitters Club is coming to Netflix’s big-screen and will feature Silverstone as head baby sitter Kristy Thomas’s mom Elizabeth and Mark Feuerstein from Royal Pains and Prison Break will star as Kristy’s step-dad. It seems like this generation’s Baby-Sitter’s Club reboot will not only delve into the teen girls’ day-to-day plights as caregivers, but we’ll get to watch Mama live a life too.

Tearing through all the books in The Baby-Sitters Club is practically a rite of passage for 80s, 90s and 2000s tweens and teens, and we have to admit that we’re sort of fangirling as we’ll be able to watch our favorites come to life. The original novels were told in the first person, giving many of us situations that were much like our own as young, blossoming women. Moving, illnesses, pets passing, divorce, adoption, fitting in and so many more topics were in the pages of the beloved books many turned to so they didn’t feel so alone in their own lives.

OMG! Will They Still Be BFFS In The Baby-Sitters Club Reboot?

The show will follow the lives of Club President Kristy, Secretary Mary Anne Spier, Vice-President Claudia Kishi and Treasurer Stacey McGill. It’s rumored we’ll also get to see some of Mary Anne’s stepsister Dawn Schafer in the small town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

The Baby-Sitters' Club reboot is going to star Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feuerstein and we're all OMG

For now, Netflix has ordered 10 episodes but considering there were over 200 books written, if a hit, there’s plenty of material with which they can work to fan the flames of our teenage hearts. Netflix has not yet announced the actors who will be playing the industrious baby-sitters, but with Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feuerstein, does it even matter?

A new generation of teens is about to experience the Baby-Sitter's Club Reboot

The series’ original author, Ann M. Martin, will be part of the production team. In an article with Town and Country Magazine, Martin said that she’s thrilled there are still so many passionate fans of The Baby-Sitters Club, and she loves to hear from original readers who are now grown. Martin loves that we as adults find pieces of our teen years in who we are now–librarians, filmmakers, teachers, writers and editors in her characters and is glad that the storylines will explore issues that modern-day teens face.

My only question–will the characters be wearing high-waisted ‘Mom’ jeans because they were in style then or because they’re back in style NOW? We shall (hopefully) soon find out!
