‘Tan Mom’ Is Angry Her Daughter Got Sunburned at School and the Irony Is Rich

By  |

She’s baaaa-aaaack! Patricia Krentcil, aka Tan Mom, is making headlines this week for a rather ironic reason: her daughter came home from school with a sunburn, and she is wicked-pissed. Krentcil, who rose to fame in 2012 for allegedly allowing her then five-year-old daughter to use a tanning bed, is ready to “go after” the school.

Krentcil told the NY Post that her daughter “was totally burned. I packed her [sunscreen] and she came home like a french fry.” She’s especially upset since the elementary school’s nurse is who originally reported her to the police back in 2012.

Tan Mom has lawyered-up.

“After what they did to me, they didn’t put lotion on her? This time, I’m going after them,” Krentcil told the Post. Her lawyer is allegedly putting together a potential case against the school district for child neglect.

Tan Mom has apparently given up on her dreams of being a pop star, and is trying to become a partial owner of — you guessed it! — a tanning salon. Go with what you know, right? This will also help Krentcil work around her lifetime ban from all the tanning salons in her town.

Despite her potential business investment, Krentcil doesn’t tan the way she used to. Because of the hot flashes that have come with menopause, Krentcil says she can only stand to tan about three times a week. That might sound like a lot to us pale folk, but back in 2012 she tanned every single day. And of course all that tanning is what made her pop culture famous because her skin really didn’t look healthy.

“I love the sun — it’s healthy,” she said. “This whole (dangers of) UV bullshit — you can die from anything.” She recently told The New York Post, “Right now, I’m a good tan. I’m not as dark as I used to be.” Baby steps.
