Mommyish Poll: Would You Buy A $2,000 Gendered Bath Tub For Your Kid?

I’m a big fan of author Peggy Orenstein and I visit her blog whenever possible. Today, the feminist and girls’ issues enthusiast posted her most “egregious Princess” find: an acrylic princess bath that costs $2,199 by American Standard. This type of marketing and product generation is precisely what I mean when discussing the difference between princess culture and your little girl simply wanting to dress up in a ballgown. Princesses may have fancy bath tubs, but they certainly aren’t marketed as an acrylic castle installation that costs $2,000.

The website also offers a firetruck for the boys just so you can keep those gender essentialist stereotypes intact.
