With Lennon And Maisy’s Imogen Heap Cover, It Remains Unclear Why They Don’t Have An Album Yet
Kid sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella haven’t shied away from the massive Internet following they accrued in response to their cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend.” The 12-year-old and 8-year-old have churned out cover after cover on the interwebs, the latest of which is a wonderful rendition of Imogen Heap‘s “Headlock.” So with so many strong acoustic hits under the tweens’ collective belt, I would have thought record executives would have come calling a long time ago in Internet time.
Although the sisters do have an appearance on the ABC series “Nashville” slated for this fall, their official website and Facebook page remains bare of any debut record announcements — a sort of “next step” in today’s flourishing YouTube insta-fame cycle. Don’t forget that the parents who captured the”Charlie bit my finger” video, literally heard around the world in 2007, are still raking in revenue from those 56 seconds of air time. So where a few young kids have managed to to secure a stable following and fans, someone up top usually comes running to make money off of them — no talent even required.
Even with names like Lennon Stella and Maisy Stella, these very gifted girls seem pre-packaged for stardom, either by happenstance or very, very savvy parents judging by these professional looking shots. But who knows, maybe the little girls’ guardians are looking to keep their daughters’ passions relegated strictly to the corners of their YouTube channel — and Good Morning America.
