David Beckham Turns Down Lucrative Professional Opportunity For His Family

David BeckhamFamily man David Beckham was being professionally courted by French club Paris-St. Germain (PSG) to kick around a ball on behalf of France. The job would have required that the Beckhams uproot their brood of four from sunny Los Angeles and move to Paris. And that alone was apparently why the father turned down the offer.

Beckham would have had to the opportunity to play for new coach Carlo Ancelotti in the city of lights, but ultimately said no citing “family reasons.”  The Los Angeles Times reports that PSG would have doubled the player’s current salary of $6.5 million playing for Galaxy.  PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi confirmed the news today telling Daily Mail:

‘The question has never been professional but about his family. It is a difficult choice to make to move his family to Paris. I know him. I have an incredible admiration for him as a player and a father too. I understand that it is difficult to move.”

David and Victoria Beckham may have just had little Harper not too long ago, but their sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz have reportedly adapted very quickly to American culture. All three boys now sport American accents and have been spotted singing the national anthem at their father’s games. The Times also reports that David himself is “quite happy living in Los Angeles,” and coupled with the contentment of his wife and children, that’s a family dynamic that money just can’t buy.
