Bruce Willis Welcomes Baby Girl Loving The Old-School Name

Bruce Willis and his lingerie model wife Emma Heming Willis have welcomed a baby girl into the world, making 57-year-old Willis a father for the fourth time. He’s already dad to three older girls with ex-wife Demi Moore: Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 18. For his newest addition, Willis went with a shockingly old-school name the polar opposite, in fact, of his current clan.

Mabel Ray Willis was born weighing 9lb 1oz, and both mom and baby are doing well, according to reports. As for the name, I love it! One of my closest friends actually emailed me this morning, “Bruce Willis stole my baby name!” She recently gave birth to a baby boy but, had it been a girl, Mabel was number one on her list of names. I was all over it but turns out we were in the minority. When she told people the name we’re talking friends and family here they couldn’t help but cringe. Many made faces said it sounds like a cow or an old lady (yet another reason why sharing your unborn baby’s name is a really bad idea).

It’s not like Bruce Willis or Emma Heming Willis have the same influence as, say, Angelina Jolie when it comes to baby names. Still, celebrities are always a huge factor in shaping baby-name trends (Apple, anyone?). It’ll be interesting to see if this “old lady” name makes its way back into the mainstream. I, for one, am banking on it.
