No, The New StorkDiet App Won’t Really Help You Choose Your Unborn Baby’s Gender

newborn baby pink hatWho would want snakes and snails and puppy tog tails when you could have sugar and spice?  Well, If you’ve ever wanted a completely useless way “determine” your unborn child’s sex then boy do we have an app for you! There is a new application for both Android and iPhone called the Storkdiet Guide To Conceiving Girls, and it’s just as stupid as you would imagine. According to the app’s page on AppShopper.com:

“StorkDiet/Girl is an app developed for couples wanting to conceive a girl. It is a natural and scientific based guide that includes a specific maternal diet and conception timing program. The StorkDiet app includes the following:

– Ovulation and menstrual cycle tracker
– Dynamic and customized conception and diet timeline
– Built-in database of over 8,400 food items to track what is allowed and prohibited on the girl diet

– A guide explaining the science behind the maternal diet”

Developer Alain Ahana  claims to have used data from a UK study that found that  volunteers who ate a low calcium, low sodium diet ended up having girl babies had slightly more than 50 percent of the time, which isn’t very impressive if you ask me. Dr. Gilbert Webb, a maternal fetal medicine specialist at the Mercy Hospital in St. Louis feels the same way and had this to say to Yahoo Shine:

”It may offer some slight edge but not a whole lot.”

You know the old saying, “A fool and his money are soon parted.” Well it’s never been more true than for anyone who would shell out $9.99 for this bullshit app. If there were a legitimate way to ensure the sex of your unborn baby, don’t you think someone would have discovered it and bottled that shiz up, already? Beyond certain questionable medical procedures, there simply is not way to predetermine the sex of your baby. And if you think otherwise, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I’d just LOVE to sell you.
