Wow, is there some kind of grand conspiracy to make me gain back all of the weight I lost during my divorce? I’m feeling very personally attacked these days. Glitter beer, pickle juice slushes, cute pink everything. Why can’t we get a new kale? Or some nice, healthy snacks?? The newest food product that is trying to sabotage our healthy ways is Sour Patch ice cream. Which, let’s be honest, is going to be delicious. Sour Patch Kids are very nearly the perfect candy. They’re sweet, sour, chewy, and can be consumed silently while you hide from your kids to eat them. I cannot wait to try it and be so mad at myself when I eat the entire pint.
I can eat an insane amount of Sour Patch Kids. So I’m assuming this will translate to Sour Patch ice cream.
The frozen treat SOUNDS amazing. It’s a mix of lemon sorbet and light vanilla ice cream. There’s a Redberry ribbon swirl throughout (red is the best SPK, fight me). And there are even little frozen chunks of the gummy candy. Instagrammer @JunkFoodMom tried it, and she reported that it was good, but SOUR. Apparently the Redberry swirl is what really packs a puckered punch.
She says, “What makes this Sour is the Redberry Swirl. Yikes- if you get a spoonful of it I guarantee your face will pucker up. This may not be for everyone but if you like sour sweets you’ll love this”.
@JunkFoodMom says the ice cream is made by Dreyers. And so far, it’s only been spotted at Walmart. No word on if this is a Walmart exclusive, or if it’ll be available at other retailers. There have been other Sour Patch Kids frozen treats in the past. Baskin Robbins has a Sour Patch-infused flavor, and there’s even a Dippin’ Dots flavor called Redberry Sherbet.
But if we can get Sour Patch ice cream to enjoy at home? Total gamechanger. I think I may have to suck it up and go to Walmart, just to see if I can find some. Wish me luck!
