Breaking: Shooting At Roswell, New Mexico Middle School UPDATE

121043254Police say there has been a shooting at a Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, New Mexico.

From The Associated Press:

Roswell police said the suspected shooter was arrested Tuesday at Berrendo Middle School, but authorities have not said if there were any injuries. The school has been placed on lockdown.

Roswell has been rocked by gang violence in recent years and has asked Homeland Security Investigations to step in and help. Word of the shooting was posted on the Roswell Police Department’s Facebook page.

Children are being bussed to a nearby mall where parents can pick them up.

A hospital official says a 14-year-old with injuries is being airlifted from Roswell to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Update:

Law enforcement sources told ABC News there were two victims in the school shooting. It was not yet known whether they were children or adults.

The Eastern New Mexico Medical Center has confirmed they received two patients. They won’t say their conditions at this time or how old they were.

Still no news on whether the shooter was a student.

This recent incident comes only one month after another school shooting that happened in Colorado, where an 18-year-old armed with a shotgun, machete and had Molotov cocktails in his backpack was reportedly trying to seek revenge on a debate team instructor who dropped him from the team.

One month since the last school shooting. But we don’t have a problem with gun violence in this country. We’ll continue to update with information as it comes in.
