Sandy Hook Elementary School Has Been Evacuated Due To A Bomb Threat

sandyhookSandy Hook Elementary School has been evacuated due to a called-in threat this morning.

The news is still forthcoming, but according to the Chicago Sun-Times, Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe, Conn., was evacuated this morning when someone called in a bomb threat at around 9:30 this morning. School officials say the students were moved to another nearby school, and their parents will be able to pick them up there.

Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn., was the site of a terrible school shooting where 20 people were killed in just 2012. That school building was torn down last year, and the students were sent to this school in Monroe, which is also called Sandy Hook Elementary School. According to NBC, police say they searched the Monroe campus and found nothing. Hopefully that means this is a terrible, terrible prank.

These students have been through too much already. This news is terrifying, and I find myself conflicted because the idea that someone called in a threat as a prank is filling me with an incalculable rage, because that is the worst prank I can think of. But on the other hand, I really, really hope it is a prank.
