Please Don’t Let Stop-Motion Videos Become The New Way To Share A Pregnancy On Facebook

I was never one to share pictures of my bare, pregnant belly. Still, I don’t like to be a Grinch when it comes to other people’s pregnancies. People should be able to celebrate their pregnancies in whatever way they see fit. But for the love of God and everything holy, please don’t let the stop-motion pregnancy video become the new way women are sharing their journey to motherhood on Facebook.

Tomer Grencel took over 1000 pictures of his wife, Osher, throughout her pregnancy. He had the idea of putting them together in a stop-motion video to document the arrival of their first child. Can you even imagine posing for that many pictures while you are pregnant? I can’t. I almost want to now, because our pregnancy video would be so different than this one. It would mostly involve me throwing stuff at my husband, trying to get him and his damn camera the hell away from me.

I think you should watch it now so my commentary will make more sense.

This may be something that their daughter will love as she grows older. Or, she will be horrified by it – only time will tell. I have to admit the soundtrack is pretty adorable, as is the pregnant woman. She’s so smiley and optimistic. It’s almost as if she has no idea that she will never eat a warm meal and have a full night’s sleep again. Aww.

It was actually pretty enjoyable to watch until the water-breaking scene. Also, I don’t want to see your husband making out with your pregnant belly. Just, no.

Although I think this video is probably the perfect visual definition of “over-share,” it is pretty cute to see parents-to-be putting so much time into a project like this. I imagine them doing all sorts of fun, crafty things with their child and having a library of home videos of her growing up. The video is pretty cheesy, but I have to admit the excitement that drove these young parents to make it made me smile.
