Pink Was Mommy Shamed (AGAIN) And Oh God, Just Make It Stop
It’s Tuesday, so that must mean it’s time to dip into the “Mommy Shaming” grab bag! Today in mommy shaming, we’re checking out the lifestyles of the rich and famous, because not even they are impervious to the hoards of moms who’re better than us on the internet. Pink was mommy shamed recently, after posting a sweet picture on her Instagram, showing her cooking dinner with her kiddos. I mean, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?! I CAN’T KEEP IT STRAIGHT!
The picture that sparked the controversy this time showed Pink wearing her infant son Jameson in a baby barrier, while her 6-year old daughter Willow watched from the counter nearby. Sounds innocent and sweet enough, right? LOL wrong. Always wrong. Someone moved the goalposts on sweet and innocent recently and we don’t even know where they are anymore.
Pink is cooking what appears to be veggies in a pan, while her adorable kids watch. How many times have we heard, “involve your kids in the kitchen! If they help cook it, they’ll want to eat it!” Apparently that means they must stay 20 feet away from any and all cooking surfaces or utensils at all times.
Because, you know, DANGER. It’s not like we can trust moms to be careful, right?
Commenters started in with the “helpful” advice almost immediately. Which actually means: Pink was mommy shamed for attempting to cook her baby as soon as the picture went up. Some of the comments said things like, “Cute photo but please don’t cook wearing the baby … “, and “I babywear all the time except when I’m cooking hot meals. The better alternative, I suppose if you really must, would be wearing the baby on your back. Not directly facing the hot stove.” Oh, you suppose, random internet stranger? Thanks for chiming in!
First rule of having a child: don’t do anything, ever, because you’re doing it wrong!
Luckily, plenty of fans have come to her defense, calling her badass and praising her for being a multi-tasking mama. When we look at the picture, all we see is an amazing mother and 2 adorable kids learning from her. Could Jameson BE any cuter?! Any kid who looks at veggies like that is being raised right.
This isn’t Pink’s first trip down the mommy shaming hole. After she announced her pregnancy with Jameson, she posted a picture that, quite frankly, could’ve been me.
Lord, people lost their shit over this one. Coffee? Check! Sitting in front of a microwave? Check, check! People accused her of “feeding addictive stimulants to her unborn baby” (seriously, WTF), and some obvious scientist said that the microwaved milk is bad for the baby. The more you know!
We love Pink. We love her style, her unapologetic attitude, and we love seeing her as a mom. What we DON’T love, is mommy shaming. Seriously people, just STFU already. Trust mothers and fathers! And for the love of god, mind your business.
