Just One More Reason To Hate Nadya Suleman: Octomom Charged With Welfare Fraud

Octomom is at it again. If Nadya Suleman, a.k.a. Octomom, were a superhero, her powers would be single-handedly destroying the porn industry and taking down the government at the same time. Go, Octomom!

Suleman’s latest shenanigans involve a charge of welfare fraud after neglecting to report nearly $30,000 in earnings. Octomom received her infamous moniker after conceiving and birthing octuplets via IVF. This brought her total child count to a whopping 14, which shouldn’t have been anyone’s business””until Suleman applied for public assistance in January 2013.

But Octomom made one fatal mistake. (Just one?) Suleman reportedly “did not disclose she was getting paid for personal appearances and residuals from videos she has appeared in.” This extra boost in income went unreported from January 1 to June 30, 2013.

Just a year after applying for public assistance to support her 14 children, Suleman was officially charged on January 6, 2014, with three counts of alleged welfare fraud. This breaks down into two counts of perjury by false application for aid and one count of receiving government aid by misrepresentation.

If I could say one thing to Suleman, it would be this: Come on, Octomom! What are you thinking?

Not only did she take on the responsibility of mothering 14 children””which makes my head spin””but she purposely made a poor decision when it came to the well-being of her entire family. If Octomom is convicted of this crime, prosecutors say that she could face more than five years in custody.

I’ve seen Suleman try to defend herself and her strange choices on a number of news programs and talk shows, including Dr. Phil. The Octomom I saw on Dr. Phil came on to discuss the latest “scandal” behind her creepy ass porn video. To make matters worse, she was criticized for her appearance by looking and acting as if she was under the influence of drugs””read: a vacant, glazed over expression on her face throughout the entire interview.

From what I have seen in the media, Octomom isn’t doing herself any favors. Suleman has also had several visits from CPS regarding the improper care of her children. No child welfare charges have been brought against her so far.

Octomom has made it a point to put herself in the eye of the media””partially as a way to promote her brand and make money off her strange reputation. In my opinion, this leaves her open to criticism. If Suleman’s kids don’t get taken from her now, it doesn’t seem like it will be long before they are removed from her care. Octomom clearly sucks, but I feel for her children.
