Mommyish Death Match: Are Dirty Diapers The Worst Mom Snack You’ve Ever Heard Of?

By  |

Welp, there’s a woman who chews on dirty diapers all day long, so all the disgusting mom stuff I’ve ever done has basically just been vindicated.

Seriously, how many of you have made a meal out of discarded macaroni and cheese bits you found on the floor? Or finished a disgusting spit-ridden ice-cream cone? Mothers do gross things sometimes. I’m not proud.

But this week, My Strange Addiction covered some territory that would chill even the most shameless mothers down to their very cores. Spit clean your child’s face? Child’s play. Stick your finger into the diaper to see if it’s dirty? Big deal! There is a woman out there who smells and chews on dirty diapers all day – the dirtier the better.

My name is Keisha, and I’m expecting my first child and I love the sniffing and chewing of dirty diapers.

Horrified. Just in case you can’t wrap your head around what that looks like, I’ll give you some images:

It has to have pee in it. It has to have pee in it.

Screen Shot 2014-01-16 at 12.42.42 PM

The heavier ones that have more pee smell better.

This tastes amazing.

In the realm of all things gross that we parents experience, have you ever done something remotely this gross? What says you? I’m going with, HELL NO. The video is here if you really want to watch it.

No doubt this is pica. The only question that remains is this: is this caused by nutritional deficiency or mental disorder? Without knowing anything about this case, I’m leaning towards nutritional since she is pregnant.

This show really disturbs me, since this is not normal behavior, and the pica sufferers are usually putting their health at risk (eating linoleum, couch stuffing, laundry detergent). Putting this all out as a gross-out freak show strikes me as wrong. I hope the show provides mental health professionals…..

I’ve seen this show on youtube and part of it is them going to professionals but it’s up to them to decide if they want to stop it or not. The very end has a small update on them when editing is done.

I am SO sad for her, and her child. I severely hope she gets better, and I also feel badly that there are pictures and videos of her doing this all over the Internet. I just…just…why? Why dirty diapers? WHY?

At my first OB appointment for our first daughter the doctor asked me if I had been having any strange cravings. I said no. He said, oh good, I always check. Huh?

My first introduction to the concept of Pica. Apparently he gets a lot of cases, and it is more common then one would think. I once got my husband to make me a grilled PB&J, does that count?

As a general rule, I’ve found that if a sandwich is already tasty, it will be even tastier grilled. Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana is one of my most favorite things ever.

In fact, I’m going to go make one right now while I try very hard to forget the topic of this article forever.

The article didn’t specify….. did she do this before she became pregnant or after? And if she hasn’t had any kids yet where is she getting the dirty diapers…I’m confused.

Wait a minute while I go puke….okay, I’m back. Now, WTF? Beyond the obvious helluvagross factor — this is her FIRST pregnancy? So, no baby yet? So, WHERE is she getting these diapers??? And, not that I’d ever be behind this practice but with someone else’s babies diapers??? Nevermind. I’ll be in the bathroom with my head over toilet if anyone needs me.

I feel like a year or so ago someone who had been on the show (as one of the horrified friend/witnesses) had come out and talked about how it was way exaggerated and how the show even staged it to make it look like they had more of the “food” in the house than they really did. But now I can’t find anything to prove this on the internets. Would it surprise me that TLC hires someone to get rid of stuff like that? not so much….

One of my close friends tried to get on “Pimp my ride” and they wanted her to fill her classic car with garbage to make it look like a more shocking transformation. She declined.
