Worst Mother Ever Tries To Sell Her Kids On Facebook For $4000

shutterstock_94168588I was just having an argument with my mother over dinner last night. She seems to think all mothers “try their best.” She optimistically believes that all mothers are inherently good and do the best they can with their situations. Um, no. Sorry mom – they all don’t. I’ll be showing her the story of the mother who tried to sell her children for $4000 on Facebook to prove my point.

Misty VanHorn, a 22-year-old mother of two from Oklahoma attempted to sell her 10-month-old and 2-year-old on Facebook last week. For $4000. From Mashable:

According to the police report, VanHorn offered the kids several times on the social network ”” offering the 10-month old girl for $1,000, or a package deal with the two of them for $4,000. And she had a taker.

“Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000,” read VanHorn’s Facebook message to the Fort Smith woman, as unearthed in the police report by theDaily Dot.

Police believe she wanted the money to bail her boyfriend out of jail. In the best case of instant karma, ever – she is now being held on a $40,000 bond. The children are in the custody of the state’s department of human services. I don’t usually like to see children torn away from their mothers – but in this case I think I’ll make an exception.

I hate to harp on the old there are so many loving couples that want children this is so unfair argument, but there are so many loving couples that want children, this is so unfair. These poor kids. Since the buyer she found was a woman from Arkansas, VanHorn will probably be charged with a federal crime for crossing state lines to sell a child.

Sorry mom, but I’m right this time.
