Shut Down Pinterest, This Toddler’s Personal Injury Lawyer-Themed Party Just Won Birthdays Forever

morris-bartAn odd little duck from Prarieville, Louisiana, just won birthdays forever with a party themed around his favorite celebrity — New Orleans personal injury lawyer Morris Bart. It’s such a quirky, brilliant idea that you know hipsters throughout the South are devastated with envy that they did not come up with the idea themselves, but I predict an uptick in sales of Morris Bart-themed birthday cakes.

You can always tell where someone grew up based on which cheesy commercials they can repeat immediately. New Yorkers thank Dr. Zizmor. Chicagoans sing, “588-2300, Empire!” and “Ooh, look at those low rates!!”

In Louisiana, personal injury lawyer Morris Bart and his “One call, that’s all!” commercials occupy that place for a large part of the population, including 2-year-old Grayson Dobra, who counts the name “Morris Bart” among his first words.

”Before he could walk or talk, every time the Morris Bart commercial would come on, he was just fixated,” said Grayson’s mother, L’erin Dobra to The Advocate. ”You couldn’t talk to him. You couldn’t do anything with him. He would just sit and stare at the TV. You could call his name, give him a toy. He didn’t care. He just wanted to watch the Bart commercial. He’s been that way ever since, and when he started talking he would say, ”˜One call’ or ”˜Bart, Bart, Bart, Morris Bart, Morris Bart.’

”They were not his first words, but they were a close second and third,”

Little Grayson is so obsessed with Morris Bart that his mother decided to just throw a Morris Bart-themed birthday party. He’d already had a Mickey Mouse party, and this is kind of the same thing. She acquired a life-size cardboard cut-out of Bart, and there was a Morris Bart cake that no singing Elmo cake on Pinterest can ever hope to rival. Bart could not make an appearance, but his office sent an autographed photo, some keychains, and a large hockey jersey with his logo on it. Grayson also got a toddler-sized Morris Bart T-shirt that he is now refusing to take off.

”He still loves his Morris Bart shirt,” his mother said. ”If you put it on him, you’d better not try to take it off. He will throw a fit. He has his two photos on the nightstand, and he likes to give Morris Bart a kiss goodnight sometimes. He is literally obsessed with Morris Bart.”

Kids are so cool when they become obsessed with totally random things. At that age, my little sister was obsessed with the Jane Fonda Workout. She wore a leotard, headband, and leg warmers everywhere. But she was not obsessed with Jane Fonda, she was obsessed with Peggy Lipton, the lady who worked out next to Jane Fonda in the videos. (Who was also an actress and Rashida Jones’ mom, but at the time my sister only knew her as the blonde lady who worked out with Jane Fonda.)

It’s 30 years later now, and my sister is still obsessed with exercise. So who knows, maybe in a couple decades we will all joke about the cheesy and immensely successful commercials for Legal Cobra, Grayson Dobra.
