Picking out a name for your baby can be a tough task. While some people know right away what they'd want to name their child, others lose sleep over it for weeks or even months. Personally, I've only ever named my kids in the last week of pregnancy. And even then, I won't tell anyone because I know how judgemental people can be about names. Take, for instance, this mom who is considering changing her baby's name thanks to some truly mean commentary from the child's grandmother. The new mom is feeling horribly conflicted and has taken her struggle to the internet because, well, it's 2017.
The mama in question is only known as user AutumnName on the site Mumsnet. AutumnName tells the forum that her daughter was born last Halloween, and due to the time of year, she decided to name her baby Autumn. Cute name, right? Perfectly average, honestly. I wouldn't think twice of it. And yet, this mama is feeling heavily conflicted to the point she's thinking about changing her baby's name.

"Lots of people don't get it. My mum actually makes jokes about it—'I can't wait to see my granddaughter who hasn't got a proper name.' or she directly speaks to her and says, 'You might as well have been named "Season".' No one else really says anything, but I feel like they think the same."
What. The. Fuck. Alright, so basically, this poor mom, who may or may not be on the younger side, is apparently living with some kind of narcissistic and/or borderline abusive mother of her own. The fact that her own mom is comfortable saying such awful things to her and her baby indicates that she's got plenty of her own issues. I'd love to know what her name is.
Fortunately, the majority of the comments to her post have been incredibly supportive.
Personally, I'm hoping AutumnName realizes that Autumn is a perfectly fine name for her baby girl and that she also tells her mom to back the hell off, or gets away from her stat. No one should make you feel bad about the name you chose for your child, especially not your own mother.
