Stoner Mom Forgets Baby On Car Roof, Gives Pot A Bad Rap
Teen mom Catalina Clouser might just win the award for ‘Idiot Stoner Of The Year.’ That’s because the pot-smoking Arizona mom accidentally drove away with her five-week-old son on the roof of her car. Miraculously, the baby – who was strapped into a child safety seat – suffered no injuries. But Clouser, 19, isn’t so lucky: she’s been arrested and charged with child abuse and aggravated DUI.
Okay, so first, let’s all breathe a giant sigh of relief that this baby is just fine (save for having a terrible mother). He reportedly fell off the car in the middle of an intersection and stayed there for a while until a couple walked by and spotted the car seat, which they presumed was empty. Well, imagine their surprise when they discovered a five-week-old baby in it! It goes without saying that they called police.
Turns out Clouser and her boyfriend had been smoking marijuana in a park earlier in the night before heading out to buy some beer (with baby!). They got stopped by police and the boyfriend was arrested for a suspected DUI. This upset Clouser, so she drove to a friend’s house and smoked another few bowls of marijuana. She left at around midnight, baby asleep in his car seat. That’s when she placed him on top off the car, drove off and didn’t realize he was missing ’til arriving home.
Clouser called her friends and asked them to help retrace her steps. She ended up back at the intersection where her son had fallen, which at this point was filled with police officers, who promptly arrested her. (The baby is now in the care of child protective services.)
This story is sad on so many levels, the obvious one being that Clouser is out drinking and smoking with her little one in tow. To think that she’d endanger her child like that is absurd, though clearly it happens more often that we’d like to think. Of course, there are many people who will now focus on the evils of pot, though this story is clearly about so much more – namely a 19-year-old mother who’s unfit to raise a child.
