Leisha Hailey Didn’t Do Anything ‘Vulgar’ On Southwest Airlines

L Word star Leisha Hailey, who was escorted off Southwest Airlines for kissing her girlfriend, has released a statement regarding her behavior while on board. Although she admits to getting upset about being told that Southwest was “family oriented airline” (and who wouldn’t frankly?), she says that she and her partner were not exactly swapping spit.

Leisha and Camila Grey write in their statement:

In no way were our actions on Southwest Airlines excessive, inappropriate or vulgar. We want to make it clear we were not making out or creating any kind of spectacle of ourselves, it was one, modest kiss. We are responsible adult women who walk through the world with dignity. We were simply being affectionate like any normal couple.

The couple also cite their parents and their upbringing in defending their actions, writing that they both come from “loving homes.” Leisha also tweeted yesterday that she has audio and video of the incident.

In her statement, she and Camila say that they in the process of filing a formal complaint with Southwest and that they ultimately hope “a greater tolerance without prejudice will evolve.” That and a greater recognition for what constitutes a “family,” I hope.
