Kristen Bell Explains Why We Shouldn’t Cry Over Celeb Divorces
The internet was rocked this week when Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced they are legally separating after eight years of marriage. Now Kristen Bell, half of another beloved Hollywood couple, is speaking about the split. Her biggest message? We all need to chill.
In an interview with E! News, Bell was asked if “Hollywood” is to blame for celebrity divorces. The actress replied that while she doesn’t think it’s “Hollywood, per se,” but that it’s an occupational hazard. “The reality is when you’re working in this industry you’re sometimes shooting a movie in China for four months,” she explained. “You’re away from your family for four months. So, I think it’s more the separation than anything that can weigh on people, and the truth is, it’s really hard.”
Kristen Bell and her husband, actor Dax Shepard, work hard on their marriage.
“I love my husband, I love my marriage, but it is very hard and we work at it. We work, we go to couple’s therapy. We make sure that we’re talking with respect to each other, and that when we sit down to have a disagreement it’s a disagreement, not an argument, and it’s a lot of work,” she acknowledged.
Like the Disney princess she is, Bell wishes that people on the outside would focus more on the good parts of a former relationship.
She even spoke hypothetically about how she hoped people would react if she and Shepard were to split.
“If there are two people that decide not to be together, it shouldn’t really be a heartbreak for everyone,” she pointed out. “You should say, ‘Oh, they tried. But that doesn’t discount the lovely years they had together.'” Very true!
Kristen said that if she and Shepard were to divorce, she’d still look back fondly on their relationship. “If I ever get divorced, I’m still going to be like, ‘Wow, I loved being married to that man.”‘
Alright. But like, don’t get divorced, okay? Thanks.
