As you no doubt guessed by the name, Katherine is the daughter of actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She is his eldest daughter with now ex-wife Maria Shriver, and she was born in 1989. She has one sister and two brothers, as well as a half-brother (through her father). Her parents were officially divorced in 2017, after a lengthy separation related to an affair and an out-of-wedlock child. Katherine has an excellent relationship with both of her parents, and frequently talks about how much she admires them both and how much they have taught her. She is close with her siblings as well.
Katherine was born on December 13, 1989 in the city of Los Angeles, California. Her parents opted to raise Katherine and her three siblings there, in a giant home in the Brentwood neighborhood, where they were raised in luxury. While the Schwarzenegger children spent most of their childhood there, the family did have a couple of vacation homes, located in Idaho and Massachusetts. Growing up, the family attended St. Monica Catholic Church, located in Santa Monica. After her parents split, Maria remained nearby in Los Angeles, making it easy for the younger Schwarzenegger children to go back and forth between their homes.
Katherine married actor Chris Pratt on June 8, 2019, in a California ceremony that was witnessed by their close family and friends. Pratt’s young son was in attendance, as well as Schwarzenegger’s parents and siblings. The beautiful wedding was filled with flowers and was followed by live music, cocktails, and a meal of light summer fare. By all accounts, the wedding was romantic and beautiful, and the pictures that have since surfaced — on Instagram and from various paparazzi sources — back that up. Katherine’s bridal dress, designed by Giorgio Armani, was gorgeous, with a long, flowing train and accompanied by a delicate veil.
Katherine’s father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was raised Catholic, and chose to raise his children within the same tradition. Katherine herself continued within the Catholic faith for some time, although in recent years she has opted instead for non-denominational Christian services. The influencer has been spotted attending church services with now-husband Chris Pratt numerous times, and Pratt, who is also religious, is thrilled to have a wife who shares his faith in God. Katherine has spoken of her Christian beliefs on social media in the past, and her fans will no doubt continue to be inspired by her strong, unapologetic religious foundation.
Katherine is the daughter of The Terminator, and that’s a pretty big deal. But it’s perhaps an even bigger deal that her mother, Maria Shriver, is the daughter of Eunice Kennedy, who is the sister of former president John F. Kennedy. The Kennedy name pulls a lot of clout, and Katherine is a certified member of that clan, even if, according to her, Katherine has never felt quite like she fit in among her extended family. Still, Katherine is and always will be, on some level, a Kennedy, as evidenced by a recent giant family photograph including Schwarzenegger and her new hubby.
In May 2012, Katherine Schwarzenegger graduated from the University of Southern California’s USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. The school, located in Los Angeles, offers degrees in journalism, public relations, and communications, the last being Katherine’s major. After college, she took a year to research and write her second book, which is full of advice for other college graduates who aren’t quite sure what to do with themselves. These days, Katherine puts that degree to good use as a writer and blogger, and she uses her social media channels to connect with and communicate with her fans on a personal level.
After graduating from high school, Katherine did a public relations internship with the beauty and personal care product company Dove. Her internship happened to coincide with the beginning of Dove’s “Campaign for Real Beauty,” which gave her a real insider view on the efforts of the company to normalize beauty in all body sizes and types. The campaign led Katherine to take a course during her first year of college on how the media influences our self images, creating extremely unrealistic expectations for most women. The two experiences together were the driving force behind her first book, Rock What You’ve Got.
Schwarzenegger is the author of THREE books! The first, Rock What You’ve Got, is part-memoir, part-self-help for teens struggling with self-image. In it, Katherine discusses her own history of body image issues and educates readers about a wide variety of issues: eating disorders, birth control, and more, all written by a young woman who knows how to speak to other young women. The second, I Just Graduated… Now What?, was written after Katherine graduated from college and found herself at a loss for which direction her life should go. The book is a compilation of advice guaranteed to help other new grads or those who are approaching graduation. Katherine’s final book is Maverick and Me, a children’s book inspired by the author’s own adopted dog. In the story, readers are encouraged to look to shelters to rescue dogs in need of homes.
Katherine has been blogging for years, and her current site has been up and running since 2015. On KatherineSchwarzenegger.com, topics include “Animals,” “Style,” and “Health.” She talks about her books and offers recipes that look and sound delicious. Katherine also has several ongoing series of posts. One, “#AskKat,” is inspired by real-life questions the star receives over social media. Another is “Real Women Doing Real Things,” in which Katherine various successful women about their businesses, education, and lives in general. Schwarzenegger keeps such a warm, friendly tone throughout all her posts, and readers everywhere love seeing what she has to say on a variety of lifestyle topics.
Katherine was born into an extremely wealthy family. Her father, Arnold, is worth hundreds of millions of dollars between his bodybuilding, movie, and political histories. Her mother, Maria Shriver, a former journalist with a number of books to her name, is also worth millions. Her parents are split now, but Katherine grew up in luxury, likely wanting for nothing. As an adult, the millennial is worth several million on her own merits, although the name recognition has no doubt helped her become a powerful social media influencer. Between sponsored content and her own books, Katherine herself is worth several million dollars.
Katherine makes no secret about being an animal lover, and she has shared many images of herself and her dog, Maverick, as well as various other animals like baby goats and horses. Her love of animals is yet another reason why she and Chris Pratt are such a great fit for one another; Pratt owns a farm on the San Juan Islands, just off the coast of Washington state. There, he keeps plenty of sheep, pigs, chickens, and other animals, and if the couple’s Instagram feeds are any indication, they both enjoy spending time among the farm’s many animals together.
The blogger has an entire heading on her website devoted to food, and she enjoys sharing recipes that are easy to make, contain simple ingredients, and taste delicious! Katherine enjoys cooking, especially with family, and often talks over social media about classes she’s taken recently and whatever she has been cooking up. As an animal lover, readers might expect Katherine to follow a vegetarian or even vegan diet, especially as she’s worked with animal rights organization PETA in the past. But while Katherine has stated in the past that she is a vegetarian, it’s unclear if the writer still actively categorizes herself as one. Her husband owns a farm, after all, and has been unapologetic in the past about his love of hunting animals for meat. But even if she’s no longer a veggie, readers can expect her to continue offering vegetarian-friendly recipes on her website in the future.

Katherine has a dog named Maverick. Katherine started out by fostering the puppy in early 2014, but ultimately ended up adopting the sweet puppy. He got sick shortly into their foster period, and after nursing him back to health, Katherine just fell in love with her “miracle” dog! At the time of the adoption, Katherine also had two other dogs, but reports that they all got along great. On her blog, Schwarzenegger has spent a lot of time detailing how she’s trained Maverick, and how much it means to her to have an animal companion. The two are best buds!
In the past, Katherine Schwarzenegger has volunteered as a celebrity animal ambassador for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. As an animal lover with a strong support for adopting pets, rather than buying them from breeders or “mills,” working with the ASPCA is a natural fit for Katherine. In this capacity, she advocates for animals who can’t advocate for themselves, especially on a legislative level. Katherine has been at adoption events at the California state capitol and protested an agricultural “gag” bill in North Carolina that could have furthered animal abuse within the tumultuous factory farming industry.
With her history of animal activism, Katherine was only too delighted to be able to release an animal-centered podcast in 2019. The Dog That Changed Me focuses on dogs and the power our canine friends have to transform our lives. In each episode of the podcast, Katherine interviews a celebrity, but with a focus on their life as a pet owner. The podcast is sponsored by pet food company Pedigree, and guests have included LeAnn Rimes and Mandy Moore. Fans have truly enjoyed the podcast as a whole, praising Katherine for her interview skills and loving how the series also helps highlight organizations that help animals.
Clearly, there’s much more to Katherine than her family, her now-famous marriage, and her social media presence. In addition to all of her other passions, Schwarzenegger has put her communications degree to work as a television correspondent. She has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Access Hollywood, The View, and many other shows. In some appearances, she’s the interviewee, especially after the publication of some of her books. In others, she’s the correspondent or host, and she has interviewed other notable people herself. Katherine is smart and savvy, and she’s got the public speaking credentials to do the job we
