Hurricane Sandy: What You Can Do To Help Families In Need

I’m one of the lucky ones, sitting on my couch and trying to contact friends and family on the east coast this morning. From my vantage point, it seems like all I can do is worry and bug people to tell me they’re okay. But for those of you like me, sitting around watching CNN in shock and disbelief, there actually are a few things you can do.

Instead of just fretting and sending positive thoughts, we put together a few ways that you can donate to aid groups that will help or even lend a hand yourself.

All of the pictures we’re seeing in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy are horrible, but remember that people now have to clean everything up. Once people are safe, entire communities have to rebuild their homes and businesses. The entire New York subway system is going to take days of work to become operational again.

Once the storm is over, the work begins. Those of us outside of the east coast shouldn’t just change the channel. We need to lend a hand. Here’s some great ways to start.
