Heidi Klum Says Her Kids Must ‘Always Look Cool’  But Let’s Cut Her Some Slack

heidi klum childrenSupermodel and recently divorced mom of four Heidi Klum takes fashion very seriously. “We have a rule in the house,” she told reporters. “Rule No. 1 is always to look cool, and rule No. 2 is don’t forget about rule No. 1. We have other rules ”¦ but the No. 1 rule is to always look cool.”

I’m going to assume that Klum is joking. She has to be joking, right? Yeah, for sure she is. Nobody who actually means her kids need to look cool would go ahead and say it out loud which is why I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt (and you should, too).

Besides, I’m still loving the way she handled her high-profile split from Seal earlier this year. At the time, we wrote about how Klum was sure to put her children first, just as a good mom should do. (”I don’t want to talk positively or negatively about the ups and downs that we had. Every couple goes through things. Unfortunately, we’re in the public, so the highs are out there. But I don’t think it’s necessary””especially for our children””to have the lows being printed in magazines and talked about,” she told Elle magazine.)

Of Klum’s four kids Leni, 8, Henry, 6½, Johan, 5½, and Lou, 2½ only the older two take the fashion rule seriously. “Henry changes clothes 10 times a day and he wants to be very cool. I mean, he would wear a T-shirt and then he will wear a tie just around his neck, knotted, and then a belt over the shirt,” said the Project Runway judge. “He [has] very unusual ways of dressing where I’m like, ‘Really? You want to put the belt over your T-shirt and the tie around your neck?’ And he’s like, ‘Yes, mom. I’m cool.’ ”

You guys, she’s kidding! I mean, she’s telling a real story and all, but I’m pretty sure she puts kindness and decency before style. Let’s cut this woman some slack, shall we?
