Cory Monteith, the actor who played the adorable heartthrob Finn Hudson on the popular televsion show Glee, was found dead Saturday morning in a Vancouver Hotel room. He was 31.
It’s heartbreaking to see someone with so much promise and no doubt an amazing career ahead of him have his life end so suddenly and so young. Here is part of the statement from Vancouver Police Chief Doug Le Pard:
Mr. Monteith checked into the hotel in July 6th and was due to check out of the room today. There were others with Mr. Monteith in his room earlier last night, but video and fob key entries show him returning to his room by himself in the early morning hours and we believe he was alone when he died.
When he missed his checkout time, staff went to the room at noon and found his body.
Hotel video has been secured as well as room access records. Our investigators have spoken with hotel staff, who are providing the utmost in cooperation.
There is video footage of Monteith returning to his hotel room alone early Saturday morning. It is unclear if he was with any of his cast mates earlier. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to establish the cause of death, but the police chief maintains all indications are that “there was no foul play.”
Co-stars have already taken to Twitter to express their shock and grief. Monteith has a long time girlfriend who is also his co-star on Glee, actress Lea Michele.
Pretty much every kid I know is a fan of this amazing show, so parents are going to have some heart-wrenching explaining to do. So incredibly sad. His last tweets give a glimpse to a goofy, young, like-able guy, and leave me with a lump in my throat.
