Brace Yourselves: The Girl Scouts Are Introducing Two New Cookie Flavors

mtc_raisins_w_backgroundWhatever holidays we might be celebrating this winter, we’re all about to get a lovely gift from the Girl Scouts of America in the form of two new cookie flavors. I, for one, am stoked that my Thin Mints, Trefoils, and Caramel Delights/Samoas will be getting some fresh new roommates for Season 32 of The Real World: My Kitchen Cupboard. (It’s about time. The Thin Mints and Tagalongs have been fighting, which is problematic because they are so delicious when eaten together.)

According to The Daily Meal, the Girl Scouts have announced that in 2015 they will be selling two new cookies: Rah-Rah Raisins and Toffee-tastics.

I am most excited for the Toffee-tastics, which are described as ”indulgently rich, buttery cookies with sweet, crunchy golden toffee bits.” They had me at “toffee bits.” (OK, they had me at “cookie,” but my foodie cred requires me to pretend I have standards.) These will also be available in gluten-free versions in some markets.

The Rah-Rah Raisin cookies are “hearty oatmeal cookies … packed with plump raisins and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks.”

In even better news, the Girl Scouts are finally allowing online cookie sales. How you feel about this information depends largely on whether or not you have kids of an age to sell cookies. If you are the parent of a Girl Scout, you are probably thinking, “Oh thank God, how easy!” If you are a single young person who does not know anyone with cookie-selling children, you are probably thinking, “Oh thank God, now I can order cookies without having to loiter in front of a school!” Either way, online cookie sales are wonderful, wonderful news.
