Amazing Teen Manages To Call Police After Being Shot In The Head, Saving Would-Be Victims

houston-area-shootingAn amazing 15-year-old girl – after being shot in the head and probably watching several of her family members shot, too – was able to stop a horrible killing spree from getting even worse, when she somehow found the strength to call 911 and report important details about the shooter and where he was headed.

Six members of a Houston-area family are dead.  Ron Lee Haskell, 33 allegedly shot and killed two boys, ages 4 and 13, two girls, ages 6 and 9, and two adults, a a 39-year-old male and a 34-year-old female. The police arrived to a scene of five dead bodies and two that needed to be airlifted to the hospital. “Before being flown to the hospital, one of the wounded was able to tell police that the shooting arose from a domestic dispute involving ‘someone who had left the family.'” The 15-year-old girl ended up being the only survivor.

She was somehow able to call 911 and give a description of the shooter, the type of car he was in, and tell them he was on his way to kill other family members at another address. The police found Haskell, and after a low-speed chase and a standoff – in which it was reported that he held the gun to his own head for a time – they apprehended him. Too bad he didn’t just put the gun to his own head to begin with.

Police still haven’t released details about how all the victims are related or how they are related to the shooter. This whole thing is beyond terrible – that a six people can be brutally murdered by one violent maniac with a gun – whom they are probably related to. There is no information regarding the girl’s health – but it’s incredible that after experiencing something so horrifying, and with a gunshot wound to the head, she was able to find the strength to relay information that prevented more deaths. Truly remarkable. I hope the fighting spirit she clearly has carries her through her injuries and she survives this.
