February is an interesting time to be born. It is not quite associated with winter, like December and January, but it is not yet spring, like March and April. Instead, it is a month in the middle of the winter when people are getting tired of the cold and looking forward to finally experiencing warm weather (Thanks a lot Groundhog's Day!) But the shortest month of the year has more significance than others may think. Even though it may be only 28 days, it is a month that celebrates love (Valentine's Day), new beginnings (Lunar New Year), history (President's Day) and culture (Black History Month).
February is also unique because it celebrates the birth of people from two different astrological signs, Aquarius and Pisces. February-born Aquarius are born between the 1st and 18th of February and take pride in being intelligent, friendly, and inventive according to Labyrinthos. February-born Pisces are born between the 19th and 29th of February and are known as intuitive, imaginative, and sensitive. But even if you do not believe in astrology, there is more to your birth month. Here is a list of what is awesome about being born in February.

Even though winter birthdays are not desirable, the February born have bragging rights that they were born at a unique time. According to the Center of Disease Control, there were 4,265,555 births and only 319,235 of them took place in February. In August, there were 387,798 births and in September, there were 374,711 births. This might be because there are only 28 days in February. Additionally, more babies are born in the summer months than the winter months according to statistics. Either way, it was nice to grow up and not have to share your birthday with someone else in class like your August and September peers did.

Leap Year babies might have felt like they had the red-headed step-child of birthdays. There was always someone to remind them that it wasn't actually their birthday on March 1st and that they were only technically four years old when they were celebrating their sweet sixteen. According to BBC News, there is a 1 in 1,461 chance of being born on a leap day. However, they are in good company. According to astrology, people born on February 29th are seen as optimistic, enthusiastic, and friendly. And even if you do not believe in astrology, those are great qualities to have.

Even though Valentine's babies are in high demand, babies born the day before aren't. According to the National Center of Health Statistics and the Social Security Administration, the 13th of February is the 344th most common birthday to have. Why is this the case? Parents tend to avoid having their babies on the 13th of every month, especially when it falls on a Friday. However, people born on the 13th of February are not to be overlooked. People born on the 13th of that month are associated with originality and creative thinking according to astrology.

February is associated with the beautiful purple crystal, the amethyst. Known as the Artist's stone, the amethyst is used for healing people, bringing positive energy, soothing people, and calming angry temperaments, according to a source. It isn't a coincidence because February born people are natural-born artists. As well, people born in February are less likely to be moody than people born in the summer, according to the Atlantic. Also, the amethyst is the stone of St. Valentine, and is also known as the “couple's stone”. This reflects on the fact that February born people are natural-born lovers.

February babies are more likely to come a few weeks earlier than their due date. According to the National Academy of Science, babies who were conceived in May were 10% more likely to be born prematurely. Why is this the case? Studies believe that the flu epidemic during the last trimester of pregnancy might be the cause. Premature births can lead to low birth weights and possible health issues. What can you do to prevent premature birth if your due date is in the winter months? Getting a flu shot can help to prevent mothers from getting the flu and delivering prematurely.

If your sign is Aquarius, your element is air. What makes Aquarius unique as a sign is that even though it is an air sign, it is sometimes mistaken as a water sign because it is the water bearer. However, air is used to bear water. Air signs are associated with communication and enlightenment. Other fellow air signs are Libra, the scales, and Gemini, the twins. If your sign is Pisces, your element is water is represented by the fish. Water signs are associated with emotional depth and sensitivity. Other water signs are Cancer, the crab, and Scorpio, the scorpion.

Four different planets rule the month of February. If your sign is Aquarius, planets Uranus and Saturn rule your sign. Uranus represents our higher minds, which reflects Aquarius' intellect. Saturn represents time and wisdom, which also reflects Aquarius' love of knowledge. If your sign is Pisces, Neptune and Jupiter rules your sign. Neptune represents fantasy and Jupiter represents optimism. Pisces' imaginative and upbeat nature reflects this. You may not believe in astrology, however science points to this as well. It is hard to deny research that proves that February-born people are smarter and more creative. Science once again proves that February is an awesome month to be born.

If your favorite color is blue, green, or purple it might not be a coincidence. Aquarius' birth color is sky blue, which is no surprise since Aquarius is the water bearer sign. Blue matches the colors of the air and water. Pisces' color is sea green, which matches the color of the ocean. Many species of fish also have sea green scales. February's birth color is purple. Lent and Advent's color is purple, which usually falls on February. Additionally, the violet, one of the birth flowers of February, is purple. Still don't believe that your birth color has no significance? Try wearing one of these colors one day for good luck or just for fun!

If you are an Aquarius, your key phrase is “I know”. Your ruling planets, Uranus and Saturn, which rule our higher minds and wisdom might be the cause. It might also confirm the statistics that February-born people are smarter than their peers. Growing up, people probably saw you as a know-it-all, but that is a misconception. One of your favorite things to do was to seek knowledge and share it with other people. If you are a Pisces, your key phrase is “I believe”, thanks to the imaginative planet, Neptune. Teachers often thought that you were daydreaming in class, but your mind was always active. You were usually thinking about new ideas, it's just that you just so happened to be staring away from the board.

Why does your date of conception matter? Typically the springtime is a rarer time for babies to be conceived, since the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve is responsible for many United States births. However, springtime is an interesting and unique time to come into the world since May brings flowers and new life. Springtime also brought new life for your parents, and nine months later, you were born. You also so happen to be born right before spring starts again. If you love nature, this will be a great story to tell your children or your parents. February's birth flower, the primrose, starts to bloom this month, which cannot be coincidental, by the way.

Did we list the birth months of some of your closest friends? That is because February-born Aquarians are compatible with fellow air signs, Libras, who are usually born in October, and Geminis, who are usually born in June. They are able to bond because they all love to communicate and engage in intellectual conversation. February- born Aquarius also enjoy talking to the competitive April-born Aries and the free-spirited December born Sagittarius. Relationships between February- born Aquarians and August- born Leos can be complicated since they are opposite and fixed signs (translation: stubborn), but rewarding at the same time, since they have a lot to learn about each other.

Did you see any of your ex's birth months on this list? That should not be a surprise, since February- born Aquarians are least compatible with fellow fixed signs, November- born Scorpios and May- born Tauruses. The way that these signs think differs greatly and since they are all fixed signs, it will remain this way. Forming relationships with July-born Cancers and September-born Virgos can also prove to be difficult. Don't believe astrology has an impact on romantic relationships? According to a study that tested German couples and a random sample, February/ May couples were reported to be “explosive” with higher divorce rates than other couples.
