Derick and Jill Dillard Move into a Smaller Home After Cutting Ties With the Family Business

The Dillards just can’t seem to stay out of the reality tv news cycle. We’ve seen Derick show his ass on Twitter, get fired, deny THAT, Jill start to rebel. And now, it seems as though a change of address has fans speculating about the couple once again. Apparently, the Dillards have moved from their big mansion to a much smaller home, prompting fans to wonder if the Derick and Jill Dillard move has anything to do with their leaving the show. Or perhaps, it’s evidence of a growing family riff?

So, why did Derick and Jill Dillard move? They’ve been living in a large home gifted to them by Ma and Pa Duggar after their wedding. The new house is much smaller, and presumably, not free.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been known to “give” homes to their kids once they get married and start their own families. They’re pretty successful in the real estate business, and have several homes in their arsenal. After Jill and Derick got married, they moved into the large mansion-esque home that Jim Bob and Michelle lived in before moving into their custom compound.

Fans have always surmised that Jill and Derick getting that particular house was proof that Jill was the Duggar parent’s favorite. For comparison, Jessa and her husband also got a house, but it was much smaller.

Now, the Derick and Jill Dillard move has people wondering if their drastic drop in income might be the reason they are downsizing. Derick himself mentioned the cheaper rent on Twitter.

It’s a little strange that they would be moving to pay less rent. Not because they’ll be experiencing a change in income, in that case it makes sense. But would Jim Bob and Michelle actually charge them rent to live in their old house? That part of it seems … fishy. Even if they did charge them, we highly doubt it would be market value. Maybe Derick and Jill are distancing themselves from the family, following the blow-back from Derick’s termination?

It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out once the show comes back. And we’re very curious to see what Derick and Jill have planned for work, now that their meal ticket has been revoked!
