Chrissy Teigen Learns the Hard Way Not to Joke with Journalists After ‘Extensive Plastic Surgery’ Headlines

Chrissy Teigen is the wackiest supermodel, but her penchant for jokes sometimes bewilders the journalists writing about her, which is how we get headlines like The Daily Mail’s, “‘Everything is fake except my cheeks!’ Chrissy Teigen admits she had extensive plastic surgery on her face and body, including liposuction to get rid of her ARMPIT fat.”

What actually happened is that Teigen was at an event to introduce her new highlighter palette from Becca, and she said that people are always asking if her round cheeks are real or if she’s had cheek implants. According to Byrdie, Teigen told the assembled beauty editors that her cheeks were real, but everything except her cheeks was totally fake.

“Everything about me is fake except my cheeks,” she said with a laugh. “Fake, fake, fake,” she said, pointing to her nose, lips, and forehead.

Teigen was joking, but apparently not everyone realized that, and Teigen awoke to headlines about how open she was about her “extensive plastic surgery.”

One can only imagine what a head-smacking moment that must have been, to make what one thought was a joke at a party and to wake up to several newspapers and websites proclaiming that you’ve finally come clean about all your “extensive plastic surgery.” It must be really weird to be a celebrity.

Teigen maintains that she did not in fact have a ton of plastic surgery. As proof, Teigen said that if she’d had a ton of plastic surgery, she clearly wouldn’t have her ass. “Like, who would ask for this ass?” Even though her ass has been on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and nobody thought it was anything other than fantastic.

Teigen says she really wasn’t joking about the armpit liposuction, though. She said she got liposuction on her armpit fat about nine years ago so she’d feel less insecure in strapless dresses and tank tops, but that it all eventually came back anyway.

Chrissy Teigen has never been shy about showing off her stretch marks or the weird bruises she gets from banging into knobs in her kitchen, so if she really did have a bunch of plastic surgery, she’d probably have told us.
