Chrissy Teigen spent most of her day yesterday donning a towel and listening to heartthrob husband John Legend play the piano, but she did take the time to catch up on the hottest celebrity drama: High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens‘s cringe-worthy comments about the Coronavirus. ICYMI: the 31-year-old actress logged onto Instagram Live and shared her thoughts on self-quaranting and social distancing, saying that reports it could last until the summer sound like “bullsh*t.”

“’til July sounds like a bunch of bullst,” Vanessa stated. ”I’m sorry, but like, it’s a virus, I get it, like, I respect it, but at the same time I’m like, even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible but like, inevitable?” She continued, ”I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this right now.”

Still, after followers began tearing Baby V to shreds, the mother-of-two came to her defense.

“[S]ometimes people, especially famous people, are gonna say really stupid sh*t,” Chrissy wrote on Twitter. “[S]o are you. and they, and u, will learn from it & hopefully their history says they’re good. it’s ok. and at the same time, wow they really had a dumb fuckin moment. but u don’t have ruin their lives [sic].”

She continued, “this isn’t about me this time. but it will be one day, or it’ll be you. but yeah today it’s Vanessa lol … we all have stupid moments and some people (like me) have a lot of passion and things don’t come out the way we mean it.”

After Vanessa responded to the backlash, saying her words were “taken out of context,” Chrissy also defended her after people said that making excuses was not the way to give an appropriate apology after saying something so insensitive.

If Coronavirus teaches us anything, it should be that we need to come together to support one another, teach, and forgive. Hopefully Vanessa understands her problematic comments and Chrissy 100% is doing the right thing supporting people who have made similar mistakes to the ones she has.
