Divorce is never easy. In fact, it can be one of the hardest things you ever go through. The end of a marriage is such a difficult transition, and there are so many different emotions involved. Not to mention the actual physical separation of your life from your former partner’s! There’s a lot of rubble to sift through, but in the best case scenario, both parties can hopefully work through it together. This is so incredibly important when there are children involved. While dissolving a marriage is hard, kids go through so much more. Their family is changing, their home is changing, and it’s a lot for little ones to process. But when you make your kids a priority when hashing out your divorce settlement, it can make the transition so much easier. Couples, take notes from Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced their separation in August 2017, surprising fans of the couple.

Obviously, as one of our favorite celeb couples, it was devastating! Yes, we never know what goes on behind closed doors, but they seemed so well-matched and happy! But throughout their separation, they kept a united front when it came to their son, 6-year-old Jack. They seemed to decide early on that he would be their focus, and worked to make it easier on him. Their marriage was officially dissolved on November 7. But judging by their divorce settlement, it sounds like Jack will always be their number one priority.

According to divorce docs obtained by PEOPLE, neither Chris Pratt nor Anna Faris requested spousal support, and they both agreed that child support was unnecessary as well.

The couple agreed to share joint physical and legal custody of Jack. But they took his well-being even further. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have agreed to never live more than five miles apart until Jack finishes the sixth grade. Additionally, any time one of them wants to take Jack on a trip out of the country, they are required to give the other parent a 30-day notice in writing. Now that is what we call top-notch co-parenting!

Chris and Anna have been spotted together with Jack on numerous occasions. Just goes to show that the end of a marriage doesn’t have to mean the end of a family. As long as both parents are committed to making it as easy as possible on their kids, it doesn’t have to be a terrible experience!

We’re so glad to see Chris Pratt and Anna Faris work so hard at this co-parenting thing. Such a great example for people to follow.
