Top 5 Things Not To Say To A Mother Of Twins

One in 30 babies born in the U.S. is a twin, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So, no, you’re not crazy you really are seeing more twins these days. In fact, there’s an astounding increase over the last three decades (to put it in perspective, only one in every 53 babies was a twin in 1980). The reason? The rise in fertility treatments paired with the fact that more women are waiting until they’re over 30 to have babies.

So while twins are becoming more common, lots of people are still fascinated by them (myself included). So much so that they’ll often spark up a conversation with the kids’ mother on the playground or in the schoolyard. And, despite their best intentions and natural curiosity, their questions often range from silly to downright offensive. Here’s a roundup of what not to say!
