Just As Predicted, One Million Moms Attacks JCPenney Ad For ‘Promoting Sin’

same-sex coupleIt’s gotten to the point where One Million Moms‘ freak-outs are becoming humorous. No, really, their hateful crusades feel more SNL parody than anything else. And I’m beginning to wonder who actually takes them seriously? As we reported yesterday, JCPenney has launched an awesome Father’s Day ad that features  an endearing snapshot of real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith and their adorable children Claire and Mason. ”First Pals: What makes Dad so cool?” reads the copy. “He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver all rolled into one. Or two.”

Harmless, right? Not according to One Million Moms and its homophobic members who are losing sleep over this ‘sinful’ ad. As they write in a statement on their website:

One Million Moms (OMM) is disturbed that JC Penney’s (JCP) is continuing down the same path of promoting sin in their advertisements. In JCP’s June catalog, there is another homosexual ad, but this time with two dads celebrating Father’s Day…

The ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home. It reads, ”First Pals What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”

It is obvious that JCP would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war. JCP will hear from the other side so they need to hear from us as well. Our persistence will pay off! One day we will answer for our actions or lack of them. We must remain diligent and stand up for Biblical values and truth. Scripture says multiple times that homosexuality is wrong, and God will not tolerate this sinful nature.

Is this not comical? I mean, it’s sad, obviously, that people are so hateful and intolerant, but I can’t get over the irony of some of their wording (like their description, “The ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home” oh, the horror!). Oh, and they accuse them of taking sides in the “culture war.” Huh? Aren’t they just presenting various snapshots of typical American families? Grow up, OMM! And, for the love of god, get a life.

Meanwhile, there’s a cool back story to how Koch and Smith were “discovered” in the first place. Smith tells Dallas Voice that a casting agent contacted him about being in the ad back in February after seeing his family’s Christmas photo on Facebook. He says they were seeking a variety of families for the issue, but that they’re the only gay family featured. ”They were just trying to present a wholesome gay family and I guess we fit the bill for that,” he said. ”They’re really trying to represent what America looks like, and that’s not just heterosexual white people.”

Apparently Smith and Koch were warned about the OMM saga before signing on but, clearly, they didn’t let it stop them. “Obviously we’re not ashamed of our family,” Smith said. “It’s very tastefully done.” We couldn’t agree more.
