Cafe Press Sells Pornographic Baby Clothes That Promote Rape, Just In Time For The Holidays

I’m just going to be honest here and admit I’m not sure where to even start with this. I guess I could preface this post by advising you to prepare yourself to be equal parts confused, offended, horrified, and “WHAT? IS THIS REAL?” because that’s pretty much the cycle of emotions I felt after reading that Cafe Press sells pornographic baby clothes. Yep, they sell onesies and bibs with slogans that promote rape, pedophilia, and porn. ONESIES. And BIBS. Who, pray tell, is buying this shit?!

I know anyone can go to Cafe Press and design a t-shirt or any article of clothing to say anything you want. I know that. But there is a legit section of the site entitled “Adult XXX Porn Baby Clothes”, and that is fucking disturbing. So either Cafe Press has zero control over its website and wares, or they just don’t give a shit that enough consumers are out there creating this crap that it warrants its own shopping section.

Here are just some of the items available for purchase:

Collective Shout, a campaign movement against the objectification of women and sexualization of girls, is calling for consumers to blacklist the website. Campaign managers Melinda Liszweski and Cailtin Roper issued the following statement about the products:

“Slogans like this make a mockery of sexual assault and undermines the efforts made by society to reinforce that there are boundaries. We’ve been trying to say for a long time that if no consent is given, it’s rape, and this reverses that. More than that, children are not capable of giving consent. I don’t even know how they place these items under freedom of speech. There are other freedoms that need to be protected including keeping children safe from harm. There is no freedom in fueling sex towards children.”

Cafe Press has promised to “modify” their system to ensure that the products were not available for purchase, but as of right now they absolutely still are available. So.. way to be, Cafe Press. When you operate a user-generated and user-customized site like this, you’d think there would be some sort of protocol in place for when sick people go willy-nilly and do something like this, but nope! Ugh. UGH.

I think it’s pretty clear that Cafe Press is a complete disaster. I can only hope a policy will be put in place ASAP that where content like this is vetted and removed.
