Fox News Promoted A Racist Toy, Because Of Course They Did

Ah, nothing captures the spirit of the holidays quite like a super racist toy! Leave it to Fox News to promote just a toy, and with such glee! Seriously, the hosts of Fox and Friends were practically giddy during the segment in which they talked about the Build the Wall LEGO knockoff set. No, that is not a typo. Yes, it is a real toy, presumably for children. Made by Keep and Bear (not linking to that, so thank you), the building block set looks A LOT like a licensed LEGO set. Which, we assume, really pisses off the LEGO people and we hope they sue the crap out of them. You guys have to see this to believe it.

The Build the Wall LEGO knockoff set cost $30, and is suggested for kids 5 and up. Stop this planet, we want to get off.

The set comes with a black brick platform, gray blocks, and a little Donald Trump figurine. Now, we aren’t trademark experts by any means, but the entire box looks EXACTLY like a LEGO box. And little Trumpy looks EXACTLY like a LEGO figurine. If it wasn’t for the big MAGA in the left-hand corner, and the incredibly racist Latino stereotype on the back, this could easily be a box of the popular building blocks. And we can laugh about the absurdity of it all, but let’s be honest: there are ABSOLUTELY parents in this country who would buy this horror toy for their kids.

A quick scroll through the Keep and Bear site (followed immediately by a hot shower) turns up no Build the Wall LEGO knockoff.

The only items listed in the “MAGA Toys” section are a Chuck Norris LEGO knockoff figurine (LOL), and a set of figurines called “History’s Legends”. Included in this esteemed set is Trump, Chuck Norris, the Statue of Liberty, a Crusader, Braveheart (wut), and Hillary Clinton. Now, before you go thinking, “Oh, that’s nice to include her!”, please note that Hillary is holding two books: one about being mean, and one about emails. The same company also apparently used to sell a Hillary-in-prison-orange figurine, and a set called “Trump Sends Hillary to Prison!”. They also sell the Trumpy Bear! So, yeah.

But the internet lets nothing slide, and several people captured the company description before the toy was taken down. According to the totally-not-insane people at Keep and Bear, “A mob of 10,000 Central American migrants is marching through Mexico and heading toward El Paso, Texas. Mexican border agents attempted to stop them at the Mexican border, but to no avail. We understand why they want to flee Honduras and live and work in America. After all, we are the greatest nation on earth. The wall must be built. The wall will keep America safe and strong. Only then will we be able to help those in need. We are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new line of toys: MAGA building blocks! This toy makes a great Christmas gift for your kids and grandkids!” That’s a … toy … description. Words fail.

LEGO makes a lot of amazing sets for kids, like ones that honor actual heroes. The Build the Wall LEGO knockoff makes for great news, but as a gift for a child? Not so much.
