Brad Pitt Cuts A Fatty Check For Marriage Equality Because He’s Cool Like That

Brad Pitt may be planning to wed mother of his children Angelina Jolie. But the father of six is pledging six figures to ensure that other families can have that exact same right. Money well spent, Brad!

People magazine reports that Brad wrote a $100,000 check to the Human Rights Campaign to support the organization’s strides to secure same-sex marriage in Minnesota, Maryland, Maine, and Washington State. The funds have already been described as “vital resources” to the organization according to HRC president Chad Griffin.

The father maintains that he doesn’t want voting to move forward with any personal regrets on his part:

“It’s unbelievable to me that people’s lives and relationships are literally being voted on in a matter of days,” Pitt, 48, wrote in an email to HRC members and supporters on Wednesday. “If you’re like me, you don’t want to have to ask yourself on the day after the election, what else could I have done?”

And by “like me,” I assume Brad means pockets deep enough to write big, big checks. Kudos to the Jolie-Pitt clan for expressing concern beyond their own comfy family situation and towards the many, many families that define this country. You could just be silly tabloid fodder, but you’ve chosen to be silly tabloid fodder with an admirable cause.
