‘Book Buddies’ Where Kids Read To Cats To Blame For Cute Overdose

Thanks a lot Internet and the Animal Rescue League of Berks County for making me almost spill my coffee when I saw these images of REALLY AMAZINGLY ADORABLE KIDS READING TO REALLY AMAZINGLY ADORABLE CATS. I’m all crying happy tears into my almost-spilled coffee over here. The program allows kids in grades one through eight to come on into the shelter, check in, and read books to the cats awaiting adoption. The children complete “book tickets” after they have read five books to the cats, and then they can turn these tickets in for a prize or enter a monthly drawing. I think the best prize ever is this is all just a huge amazing pile of cuteness for the entire world to enjoy.

I cannot even rate these images by cuteness because they are all too damn cute. I think the biggest challenge of this entire program is NOT leaving the shelter with all the cats after you have read a book to them.

OOF. Amazingly cute.

If you live in Pennsylvania, you can contact program coordinator, Kristi Rodriguez at 610-373-8830 x 120 to learn about the program, If you would like to make a donation, you can do so here.

I know there are similar programs in other states and you can contact your local animal rescue to see if one is available. If not, you could probably start one. I mean, kids NEED to read, shelter cats get lonely, and it’s a perfect way to encourage your kids to do something nice in the world.

What an adorable way to start your day, right?
