Ben And Jerry’s CBD-Infused Ice Cream Could Be Coming To A Freezer Near You
Cannabis and cannabidiol products are everywhere these days. You can find CBD water, alcohol, food, beauty products. It seems like everyone is trying their hand at infusing products with cannabis and cannabidiol. It’s a super hot trend this year, especially in food. There are restaurants that base their entire menu around CBD-infused food and drinks! People swear by CBD oil and infused products, and creators are cashing in on the craze. Now, we’re big fans of cannabis around here, and have partaken in several different types of CBD-products. We like to think it helps, but even if it doesn’t, it certainly doesn’t hurt! So when we heard about Ben and Jerry’s CBD-infused ice cream, our ears definitely perked up. The ice cream experts are jumping on the CBD bandwagon, and we are pretty stoked about it.

A statement on the Ben and Jerry’s website says, “You probably already know that we’re fans of all things groovy – think: Half Baked and Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies. So it’s no surprise that we can’t wait to get into the latest food trend: cannabidiol, or CBD. We are committed to bringing CBD-infused ice cream to your freezer as soon as it’s legalized at the federal level.” Now, that’s the issue at this stage of the game. Even though CBD is a derivative of cannabis, it does not get users high. However, it is still considered a psychoactive substance, according to the FDA. As such, it is not approved for use in food and drink.
However, the FDA is holding a public hearing on May 31, so that could change.

The hearing is to address whether CBD will be legalized for use in food and drink. Cannabis in all forms in already legal for recreational use in some states, and the legalization wave is moving across the country. Hopefully, this means that we’ll soon be able to drown our sorrows in Ben and Jerry’s CBD-infused ice cream! In the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for regular Ben and Jerry’s, which isn’t a bad thing at all.
