‘To This Day’ Project By Shane Koyzcan Is Your Cry For The Day That You Will Share With Everyone You Know

Screen Shot 2013-02-21 at 9.35.25 AMEnjoy and share it with everyone. It’s amazing. Truly.  Dan Savage said “Had me crying into my salad at O’Hare airport. Seriously.” I don’t think I have ever watched a video more times than this one, and my own kids can almost recite it by heart. The project was started in an effort to to confront the long lasting and terrible effects of bullying. And it is gorgeous. I think most of us have our own bullying stories. Even popular kids had moments where they felt left out, or they were made fun of, or teased. Bullying is universal, and we need to start raising our kids not to bully others. And as adults, we need to stop bullying each other.

To this day, despite a loving husband, she doesn’t think she’s beautiful because of a birthmark that takes up a little less than half of her face.

Kids used to say she looks like a wrong answer that someone tried to erase, but couldn’t quite get the job done.

And I’ll never understand that she’s raising two kids whose definition of beauty begins with the word ”Mom.”

Because they see her heart before they see her skin and she’s only ever been amazing.

There just really aren’t words. Things like this are some wonderful gift from the universe (Or, the amazingly talented Simon Koyczan)  we can share with our kids and our people and hope that it makes a difference. To find out more: To This Day Project.
