10 Times Taylor Swift Lyrics Were Clearly Speaking To Moms

All this time, you may have thought of Taylor Swift as a regular pop star doing her thing and making millions. And that is where you would be wrong. You guys, Taylor Swift is talking to us moms. I have long suspected it as I feel her music truly speaks to my soul but a close analysis of some of her lyrics backs up what I feel deep down. It’s like when someone thinks a newscaster is communicating secret messages to them with winks and nods. Only it’s just Taylor spitting truth to moms everywhere who are smart enough to pick up on it:

1. “Darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.”

nightmare

Taylor understands that newborns look adorable but are actually human cyclones.

2. “Cause we’re young and we’re reckless. We’ll take this way too far.”

She is reminding us all of how toddlers handle basically any situation. They know no bounds.

3. “Screaming, crying, perfect storms — I can make all the tables turn.”

tantrum

The tables, the picture frames, their sippie cups — this lyric is obviously speaking to moms busy dealing with a tantrum.

4. “I stay up too late.”

Enough said.

5. “Won’t you come on over, baby we could shake shake shake.”

rattles

Taylor sees you on the floor. Playing with baby toys and trying to keep your kid from shoving his fingers into the Blu-Ray player. Come on, baby! This rattle is what you really need!

6. “I’m really gonna miss you picking fights. And me falling for it screaming that I’m right.”

parent fighting

Taylor reminds us of the futility of fighting with small children. They have no currency and they feel no need to be reasonable.

7. “It feels like a perfect night for breakfast at midnight.”

Babies do not go by your grown-up feeding schedule. Taylor gets it.

8. “We’re happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time. It’s miserable and magical.”

Sometimes, it’s best to just lay down the sword and give in. Taylor feels your pain, parents.
