TLC Pulls Duggars Off The Air, But Doesn’t Officially Cancel 19 Kids And Counting

Seems like there’s never been a better time for Jim Bob and the rest of the Duggars to continue abiding by that whole “buy used, save the difference” thing, because methinks they’re all going to find themselves unemployed sooner or later. Following Josh Duggar‘s admission to child molestation in his “teen years” (and Jim Bob and Michelle’s admission that they did nothing about it), TLC has officially removed 19 Kids and Counting from the air (but not before using apoplectic judgement in airing a marathon yesterday)…for the time being.

Says TLC:

“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”

Two things immediately jumped out at me after reading this statement. One, this is the first time any official statement on the matter has deigned to mention Josh’s victims; and two, TLC didn’t say they’ve officially cancelled the show. Now, when the whole Honey Boo Boo horror happened last fall, TLC didn’t hesitate to distance itself from a show that had alleged connections to child molestation:

“TLC has cancelled the series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being.”

Humming a different tune, eh, TLC? Methinks money talks, and that Honey Boo Boo wasn’t bringing in the cash and attention anymore and it was easier for TLC to pull the plug on it completely. Funny how the “health and welfare of these remarkable children” doesn’t apply to the 18 other Duggar children, huh? If they’re waiting for everyone to just forget about it and move on with the show–even sans Josh and Anna–I think they’re in for a rude awakening. Though I can’t say I’m surprised that TLC is behaving despicably, it’s TLC.

So my next question: hen will the plug be pulled on TLC?
