Woman Hit By Lightning & Forced To Have An ER C-Section Totally Missed Baby Name Win

Screen Shot 2013-07-12 at 6.15.57 AMOn the Fourth Of July, Kendra Villanueva was watching the fireworks with her friends and family when she was hit by lightning in her mom’s yard. Albuquerque had been experiencing some severe weather that day, and as the heavily pregnant Kendra saw the storms coming in she knew she had to get inside quickly. According to KCCI.com:

“I had turned and started walking,” Gordon told Action 7 News. “And next thing I remember, I woke up on the ground. My car alarm was blaring and I was dazed. I didn’t know what happened.”

What happened was the young couple had been struck by lightning underneath a tree in Gordon’s mother’s front yard. Villanueva said she woke up bleeding from her hand, where electricity left her body. Her only concern was for her unborn baby.

Firefighters were close by on another call so they were able to arrive at the scene within minutes and Kendra was rushed to the hospital where doctors performed an emergency c-section two weeks early. Her baby is is doing fine. Kendra’s boyfriend, who was also struck by lighting, is suffering from hearing loss in his ear from a ruptured eardrum, and is using a cane while he regains his balance. Both parents may have long term muscle spasms due to the lightning, but I’m sure they are happy to have little Kimberly Samantha Rose safe and sound. Now that this family is recovering and all expected to be fine, I can’t help but feel they totally dropped the ball with baby Kimberly’s name, or even her middle name, considering this little girl was born due to her mom being struck by lightning.

*I think she should have stuck a “FLASH” in there somewhere.

Especially considering her daddy is named Ian Gordon.

*Yeah yeah I know the comic book has nothing to do with lightning but come on, with a last name like Gordon I think you pretty much NEED to go with it.
