This Woman Made the Sweetest Video Telling Her Mother With Alzheimer’s That She’s Going to Be a Grandma

Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the worst things in the world. It’s difficult to watch someone you love lose their ability to remember things. Christine Stone’s mother has Alzheimer’s, and she’s put together a very sad but heartwarming video of her telling her mother that she’s going to have a baby, and it’s really sweet to see that Stone’s mother is absolutely overjoyed by the news every time she hears it.

According to The Huffington Post, Stone’s mother, Setsuko Harmon, started showing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s about 10 years ago. Harmon had already beaten cancer several times, and to get an Alzheimer’s diagnosis after all that must have been devastating.

In her video, Stone tells her mother that she is going to have a baby, and Harmon is visibly thrilled. “Good!” she exclaims. “When?”

Because of Harmon’s Alzheimer’s, she can’t remember that her daughter is pregnant, so every time Stone tells her, it’s like she heard it for the first time. Every time she is thrilled. “Oh good!  When?” she says.

Stone originally shared the video privately, but after talking it over with her father, they decided to make it public to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and what it’s like having Alzheimer’s and living with a loved one who has Alzheimer’s.

Stone says she made the video initially for her daughter, who will be born in October.

”I wanted to have a video for my daughter to see how excited my mom was for her arrival and how she was loved by her,” Stone explained. ”I also thought it was adorable how my mom reacted every time.”

Stone’s daughter might not grow up baking cookies or having sleepovers with her grandmother, but she’ll always know that she loved her.
