We’re Having a Bieber! (And Other Fetus Announcements)

You’re pregnant! Congratulations! Now how are you going to announce it?

Sure, you could send out some pregnancy announcement postcards featuring your best ultrasound picture. You could send some baby-related tchotchke to the prospective grandparents, aunts and uncles. You could force your older children to wear Orwellian t-shirts saying “Big Brother to be” or “Big Sister to be.” This web site suggests you conference call in all your family and friends.

But if you’ve really got your act together, you recreate Justin Bieber’s “Baby” video to inform friends and families that you’re having a little one of your own. That’s what Jonathan Meisner & Michelle Meisner did to get the word out.

YouTube has a plethora of baby announcements that are more heartwarming but not as good on the production values.

When our oldest came along, my husband sent out the ultrasound pictures with “comments” from the baby. She was apparently focused on how dark things were in the womb. When the second came along, we were so busy, we simply announced on Facebook that our “next album” was “dropping” on May 15 or whatever her due date was. We really need to step up our game for the next baby.
