Vanessa Trump, wife of Donald Trump Jr. and daughter-in-law of the president, was taken to the hospital today, after opening a suspicious letter that was sent to her home. The letter contained an unknown white powdery substance. Emergency medical services and police were called to the residence after Vanessa opened the letter. She and two other people in the home were decontaminated at the home by firefighters. They were then transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

NYPD spokesperson J. Peter Donald said, “The substance was deemed to be nonhazardous and is being transported to a lab in New York City for further analysis.” In addition to NYPD, the Secret Service is also investigating the scary incident.

The Secret Service issued a statement shortly after the incident. It reads, “The Secret Service and our law enforcement partners in New York City are investigating a suspicious package addressed to one of our protectees received today in New York, New York. This is an active investigation and we cannot comment any further.”

According to sources, the letter was addressed to Donald Trump Jr. The note indicated that the person who wrote the letter was angry, but no other details about it’s contents have been released. The letter had a Boston postmark, and was sent directly to Trump Jr. at his home address. Vanessa Trump and two other people were home at the time.

Wherever you fall on the political spectrum, and however you feel about the Trump family, we can all agree that this is absolutely unacceptable.

Thank goodness the powder wasn’t hazardous. But we can’t imagine how scary this must be for the Trump family. Donald Jr. and Vanessa have 5 children together. It’s unclear if any of the children were home when this happened. Sending our thoughts to Vanessa for a speedy recovery. And we hope whomever sent the letter is swiftly found and apprehended.
