This Cool Dad Has No Problem with His Son Dressing Up as Elsa, and Everyone Else Should Let It Go

little-boy-elsaWe want gender parity in Halloween costumes, and that goes both ways. It does not just mean dressing all the girls up in stereotypically “boy” costumes like Darth Vader and Spider-Man, it also means letting little boys like Elsa if they want to, like this awesome little kid from Virginia who picked his Halloween costume early this year.

Paul Henson’s adorable little son Caiden decided he wanted to be Elsa from Frozen for Halloween, and rather than pressuring the kid into “masculine bullshit,” Henson said hat was just fine.

Then he posted a photo of Caiden enjoying his new outfit, and it is adorable.

“Halloween is about children pretending to be their favorite characters. Just so happens, this week his is a princess,” Henson said.

That is wonderful and perfect. Caiden should be allowed to dress up as whatever he wants, even if that’s a princess. (Though I would quibble and point out that for the vast majority of Frozen, Elsa is actually a queen regnant, not a princess.)

Henson is demonstrating parenting done right, and people are loving it. His Facebook photo has been liked nearly 450 times, and shared more than 27,000 times.

But with all that attention, Henson had better be prepared to deliver on his Anna costume.  However they do it, I bet they’ll look awesome and have a great time.
